Roaring Adventures at Werribee Zoo: Our Day Out!🐾
Let’s Get Wild: Parking & Picnic Vibes
G'day, wildlife explorers! 🐾 Let me take you on a ride through our fabulous trip to “Werribee Open Range Zoo”. Accompanying: Micky, and our mate Prabh ready to dive into an animal-packed day.
First stop? The spacious parking lot! No circling around like a lost kangaroo here; there’s plenty of room to park. 🚗
Oh, and the fun starts right at the parking lot! Each section is named after animals. We parked at “**Camel Parking”—perfect for our desert vibes.
| Who wore it better? 🐪😆 Micky or the camel? #HumpFace |
🐪 Next to the parking area, there’s a neat picnic zone with BBQ facilities, clean toilets, and plenty of space to spread out. Ideal for a pre-zoo sausage sizzle or a chill family day. 🥩🍳 (Note to self: pack a BBQ next time!).

Tickets & Safari Vibes: Off We Go!
Safari Bus Schedule:
Daily rides from 9:50 AM to 3:40 PM, with more frequent services on weekends and public holidays. Pro tip:Confirm the bus timings when you arrive to avoid missing your spot!
The safari starts near the right of entrance (2-3 mins walk) with long queues and loops through a breathtaking expanse of savannah-like terrain.
With tickets in hand, we hopped onto one of the iconic safari buses—modern, comfy, and with massive windows for prime animal spotting. The staff? Absolute legends! Friendly, knowledgeable, and with that infectious Aussie charm that makes you feel at home. “Buckle up, mates, for an adventure of a lifetime!” they said. And boy, were they right! 🚌
Once on board the 40-minute Safari Tour, you'll be transported through arid landscapes and savannah grasslands, spotting some of the world’s most endangered species. It’s like stepping into a David Attenborough documentary -(For those who don’t know, David Attenborough is the legendary voice behind nature documentaries that bring the wild to life. 🌿 hails from the UK 🇬🇧. He’s best known for his iconic nature documentaries, primarily aired on the BBC 🌍📺).
Selfie time in the meantime in safari bus 🚌,because it’s a ritual! 📸😜
Safari Tour: The Wild & Wonderful Ride!
🎥 First up? Zebras, majestically strutting their stuff like they own the place. 🦓
Then came camels, their chill vibe matching ours from Camel Parking.
😉 Next, a herd of rhinos lazing in the sun, and then the stars of the show: hippos cooling off in a muddy pool. Add a symphony of chirping birds, and we were living the wild dream. 🦏🐦
Spotted some wild ones on our safari adventure! 🦁🐒🐧 📸 #WildlifeEncounters
Here are a few snapshots from our safari adventure! 🦓📸
After crossing the river, we entered a dusty, arid area, and suddenly the wind kicked up, sending dust everywhere. It was on our faces, in our hair—everywhere! 😅 Trust me, if you're planning on going, carry a scarf or something to cover up, or you'll feel dust in your throat. But despite the dusty vibes, we were so excited.
The kids were shouting and having a blast, and out of nowhere, 2-3 more kids joined us, adding to the fun. Even their parents were laughing along with us. All the drivers made the tour even more fun. They stopped at every major animal sighting and shared live commentary, talking with us like we were old friends. At one point, we were so excited to capture the animals—“Right, there! Left, quick!”—I think the driver might have started getting dizzy from our enthusiasm! 😅
Kids on board were losing their minds over the cheeky meerkats and towering giraffes. (So tall, we almost got neck strain!) 🦒 I swear, we were trying to snap a picture of the giraffes, but they just kept moving! Every moment on the safari was Instagram-worthy… but, um, we were too engrossed in the experience to take many pics. Guess we’ll have to go back! 📸
Highlights of the tour include:
- Critically endangered Asian Wild Horses 🐴
- Giraffes towering gracefully across the plains 🦒
- Rhinos, zebras, ostriches, and other majestic animals 🦏🦓
With live commentary from expert Safari Guides, we learned fascinating facts about animals and global wildlife preservation efforts. The buses are wheelchair accessible, making this tour perfect for all ages! 🚌
After the safari, Micky and I explored the African Adventure. 🌍✨Surrounded by vibrant African-inspired seating, colorful paintings, and serene pools, we couldn’t resist soaking in the cultural vibes. 🪵🎨💦

Of course, we made the most of the moment by clicking a few pictures to capture the memories. 📸🦓 As we soaked in the vibrant African vibes, it became clear that Werribee Zoo isn’t just an adventure for adults – it’s a Kid-Friendly Paradise!
Kid-Friendly Paradise
🌟 With interactive exhibits, picnic spots, and safe trails, it’s a haven for families seeking a fun and educational day out. 👶🐾 Watching the little ones light up at the sight of animals is pure joy – and who knows, your kids might leave as budding wildlife enthusiasts! Plus, with a zoo membership, it’s an outing that’s as kind to your wallet as it is to your heart. 🐒🦒 🐾Grab a Bite: Canteen Inside/Cafe
There’s a small canteen and a cafe inside where you can grab a coffee or a light snack. ☕🍪 While the options are limited and a tad pricey, it’s a convenient stop to refuel. However, I recommend packing your own water bottles and food to enjoy the picnic and BBQ areas while keeping it economical. 💧🍎
Plan Your Visit!
Whether you're a local or visiting Melbourne, Werribee Open Range Zoo is a must-visit. It’s more than a zoo—it’s an adventure through the wild, brimming with education, conservation, and unforgettable moments. 🐾
Pack a picnic, wear comfy shoes, and bring your inner explorer. It’s an experience that’ll leave you roaring for more—promise. 🐾Trust me, you’ll be talking about it long after the trip. (And maybe even heading back for another go, like we plan to!) Cheers to a wild day out! 🦓🦒
As our day at Werribee Zoo came to an end, Micky and I couldn’t stop talking about the incredible experiences we had. From the thrilling safari to the peaceful African Adventure area, every moment was a blend of excitement and relaxation.
And if you’re feeling peckish after all the safari excitement, don’t forget to check out the nearby Werribee food trucks. They’ve got some seriously tasty street food that’s perfect for refueling after a wild day! 🍔🌮 You won’t regret it!
