A grand entrance |

G’day mates! π Let me take you on a delightful journey to Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne, where my husband Micky, my mate Prabh, and I spent an unforgettable day soaking up the Aussie sunshine and exploring its charming sights. This day trip was packed with scenic beauty, laughs, and a sprinkle of history.
Arrival at Fitzroy Gardens – A Grand Entrance πΏπ΄
Melbourne’s weather was as pleasant as a cool summer breeze – just right for a garden stroll. As we stepped into Fitzroy Gardens, we were greeted by the stunning "River God Fountain" at the entrance. This fountain, with its cascading water and intricate design, felt like a portal to a dreamy wonderland.
We spent some time here snapping photos (gotta keep the phone's camera feed updated, eh? π), soaking in the peaceful vibes, and marveling at the artistry.

Exploring the Gardens π³π
The gardens are a haven of beauty and tranquility, with shady avenues of towering elms and oaks. We wandered along the well-maintained paths, taking in the myriad fountains and statues scattered around. "The Fairy Tree" caught our attention – a whimsical sculpture carved with fairytale characters on original red gum tree that seemed to hold a bit of magic.
Fairy Tree: Sculptured by Ola Cohn in 1931-34. Inspired by her book The Fairies Tree' and carved to celebrate Victoria's Centenary.
Within the gardens, we discovered a charming "Model Tudor Village", a delightful miniature display of Tudor-style buildings. While we admired its intricate details, we noticed the "NO PUBLIC ENTRY" signs around it, preserving its charm and mystery.
There’s even a children’s playground, where the laughter of little ones added an extra layer of joy to the atmosphere. While Micky teased Prabh about trying the slide, we spotted a retired Vietnamese army veteran sitting nearby. Born in 1942, this legend was full of beans and shared gripping war stories with us. His energy was infectious, and his tales added an unexpected twist to our garden adventure.
The Conservatory – A Floral Fantasy πΌ✨
Next stop: "The Conservatory"! Built in 1930, this Spanish Mission-style greenhouse is a feast for the eyes. Inside, we were greeted by vibrant floral displays – orchids, hydrangeas, and begonias, oh my! π·✨

The blooms matched my pink dress perfectly, and Micky insisted I was blending into the scenery like a flower in full bloom. (Blush! π)
Cook’s Cottage – A Peek into the Past π ⛵
A quick stroll brought us to "Cook’s Cottage", a slice of history nestled in the heart of Fitzroy Gardens. Originally built in England in 1755, this charming stone cottage was shipped to Melbourne brick by brick and reassembled in 1934. Exploring the cottage felt like stepping back in time. We imagined Captain Cook planning his voyages as we admired the vintage furniture and tools.
Christmas Cheer and More ππ
The festive season’s magic still lingered in the air, with "Christmas" decorations adorning the gardens. Near the visitor centre (which was sadly closing as we arrived – talk about bad timing! π), there was a cozy cafe decorated with twinkling lights and wreaths. Although the cafe was closed, it added a festive charm to the surroundings.

Wrapping Up – A Cathedral and a Smile π✨
On our way back, we passed "St. Patrick’s Cathedral", a breathtaking architectural gem. Its soaring spires and intricate Gothic Revival design details left us in awe making it one of #Melbourne’s most "iconic landmarks".
As the day ended, we left Fitzroy Gardens with our hearts full and our phones bursting with photos. The stained glass windows sparkled as the sunlight streamed through, adding a touch of divine beauty. Standing in its shadow, we felt a deep sense of calm and awe at its grandeur.
Signing Off – With a Pink Hue πΈπ
As we stepped out of Fitzroy Gardens, I couldn’t help but look back, wishing for just one more moment in this magical place. My pink dress perfectly matched the flowers and the lush greenery, making me feel like I belonged to this scenic paradise.
Micky joked, "Maybe the garden will miss you as much as you’ll miss it!"
If you’re in Melbourne, this place is a must-visit – whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just someone looking to unwind.
So, what are you waiting for? Pack your picnic, don your sunnies-he!he!he!- "Aussie slang!!!, and head to Fitzroy Gardens for a day of fun, history, and maybe even a surprise war story or two! πΏπ½
